PMD Forecasts Increased Monsoon Rains from July 18 to July 22

Pakistan’s Meteorological Department, PMD, has announced that more monsoon rains are on the way. Starting from tomorrow, July 18, until Saturday, July 22, different regions of the country can expect heavy rainfall.

According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon winds originating from the Arabian Sea will make their way into Pakistan during the nighttime. These winds are expected to gain strength on July 19, leading to widespread rain and thunderstorms in various areas.

The regions that are likely to be affected by rain and thunderstorms include Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Guliyat, and Islamabad. Officials have also cautioned that certain districts in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may experience strong winds and heavy rainfall.

Furthermore, Balochistan and Sindh are predicted to receive rainfall from July 20 to 22. Cities such as Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, and Karachi are particularly vulnerable and should prepare for substantial rainfall.

Considering the forecast, authorities have issued warnings and precautionary measures to mitigate the potential risks associated with the heavy downpours. These measures aim to protect the public and minimize damage to property.

It is important to note that last week, a westerly wave was expected to enter the upper parts of Pakistan. This wave, coupled with the monsoon winds, has the potential to bring about significant rainfall in the affected areas.

The monsoon season is a crucial time for Pakistan as it provides much-needed water for agriculture and replenishes reservoirs and groundwater levels. However, excessive rainfall can also lead to flooding and other hazards, making it essential for the government and the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

During monsoon seasons, it is advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and follow any advisories or instructions provided by local authorities. It is also crucial to avoid crossing swollen rivers or driving through flooded areas, as these situations can be extremely dangerous.

In addition, individuals should take steps to secure their homes and belongings, such as clearing drains and gutters to prevent waterlogging, and ensuring proper insulation to avoid leaks and seepage. It is advisable to stock up on essential supplies, including food, water, and emergency items, in case of any disruptions caused by heavy rains.

The PMD will continue to monitor the weather conditions closely and provide regular updates as the monsoon season progresses. It is important for everyone to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being during this period of increased rainfall.

By remaining prepared and acting responsibly, both the government and the public can effectively deal with the challenges posed by monsoon rains and minimize any potential damage or inconvenience.
