Pakistani consulate attacked by ‘Afghans’ in Germany

A group attacked the Pakistani consulate in Frankfurt, Germany, by throwing stones and removing the Pakistani flag. This incident led to a strong condemnation from Islamabad.

Videos on social media show a few protesters with Afghanistan flags entering the consulate, throwing stones at the building, and causing damage. They later took down the Pakistani flag outside the building and replaced it with the flag of Afghanistan. There were also reports that the protesters attempted to set the Pakistani flag on fire.

In response, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry asked Germany to take action against the “gang of extremists” who attacked the consulate, putting the lives of the staff in danger.

In an official statement, Pakistan criticized Germany for not being able to protect the consulate and reminded Germany of its duty to safeguard diplomatic premises under the Vienna Convention.

“Pakistan strongly condemns the attack by extremists on its consulate in Frankfurt and the failure of German authorities to protect the premises of its consular mission,” the statement said.

“We are conveying our strong protest to the German government and urge them to take immediate measures to fulfill their responsibilities under the Vienna Conventions,” it added.

The statement also urges German authorities to arrest and prosecute those involved in the attack and hold accountable those responsible for the security lapses.
