Pakistan Given No Special Discount on Oil: Russian Minister

In a recent development, the Russian Energy Minister, Nikolai Shulginov, has clarified that Pakistan has not been granted any special discount on the import of Russian crude oil. Payment in Chinese Currency Finalized; Barter Trade Proposal Under Consideration

During an international economic conference in St. Petersburg, Minister Shulginov revealed that the payment for the crude oil imports from Russia to Pakistan has been finalized in Chinese currency. This move signifies the strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and Russia, as they explore alternative modes of trade settlement.

While discussing potential trade arrangements, Minister Shulginov mentioned that no decision has been reached concerning barter supplies. However, he acknowledged that Pakistan has expressed interest in establishing barter trade with Afghanistan, Russia, and Iran, encompassing various commodities such as petroleum, metals, coal, liquefied natural gas (LNG), wheat, and other essential items. The proposal for barter trade is currently under consideration.
