Pakistan, Bulgaria reiterate to strengthen ties in various fields

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Bulgaria held a successful Fifth Round of Bilateral Political Consultations in Sofia on Wednesday.
Led by Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe) Muhammad Saleem and Director General (Bilateral Relations) Dr. Petar Kraytchevthe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, the meeting reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and discussed potential ways to enhance them across diverse fields.
The both sides emphasized the significance of early convening the next session of the Pakistan-Bulgaria Intergovernmental Commission, and establishing active linkages between the private sectors of both countries. The discussions also focused on possibilities to increase Pakistani workforce to address the existing labor shortage in Bulgaria.
Besides it, the two sides expressed keen interest in maintaining close cooperation at multilateral platforms, particularly at the UN. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides committed to deepening their bilateral ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation.

Pakistan and Bulgaria have been enjoying bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1962. The two countries share historical and cultural links, and their diplomatic relations are based on mutual respect, trust, and understanding. Both countries have maintained active and friendly relations in various fields, including political, economic, trade, culture, and education.
The two sides also discussed the possibilities of enhancing the Pakistani workforce to address the existing labor shortage in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian side welcomed Pakistani workers, especially in the fields of IT, construction, and hospitality. In addition, the two sides underscored their keen interest in maintaining close cooperation at multilateral platforms, particularly at the United Nations.
Pakistan and Bulgaria have maintained close cooperation and coordination on issues of mutual interest at the United Nations. Both countries have worked together to promote peace, stability, and security at the global level. Pakistan has supported Bulgaria’s candidatures for various UN bodies, while Bulgaria has also supported Pakistan’s candidatures for UN bodies, including the UN Human Rights Council.
The fifth round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Bulgaria was successful and productive, as both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their bilateral ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation. The meeting highlighted the potential for enhancing economic, trade, and investment ties, as well as promoting cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries.
