No compromise on independence of judiciary, says Imran Khan

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan emphasised the significance of a robust military for a powerful Pakistan. He expressed these while speaking to senior journalists in Lahore on Friday.

The former prime minister expressed that the top priority should be to strengthen the country’s national institutions. Imran Khan assured that his party is open to negotiations; however, any action taken would be within the boundaries of the law and constitution.

He asserted that the independence of the judiciary and constitution cannot be compromised and emphasized that free and fair elections are the ultimate solution to all issues. Imran Khan pledged that PTI would go to any extent to uphold democracy, adding that the entire nation would support the movement.

He expressed concern about the abduction of thousands of PTI colleagues from their homes.

The PTI chief said that his party workers were being picked up from their residences.

“There is no information on the whereabout of the PTI workers,” said Imran Khan. He said that he would spend his life after the murder attempt in Pakistan.

Talking on the occasion, the Secretary General of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ) Rana Azeem said that journalists would fight for the supremacy of the law and constitution.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court (SC) bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial refused the government’s request to form a full court bench to hear election delay case. The PTI had moved the apex court against the decision of election commission to change the date of elections in Punjab and KP.
