The India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 Group A match on Sunday was an exciting contest where both teams’ bowlers shone. India batted first but managed to score only 119 runs, losing all their wickets in just 19 overs. However, this score was enough as India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya delivered outstanding performances with the ball, restricting Pakistan to just 113 runs. Naseem Shah’s late effort, scoring an unbeaten 10 runs off 4 balls, couldn’t secure a win for Pakistan.
After the match, Naseem Shah was seen crying, upset that his efforts couldn’t secure a victory. His teammate Shaheen Afridi tried to comfort him. A picture of India’s captain Rohit Sharma also surfaced on social media, showing him consoling a heartbroken Naseem.
Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, praised his team’s bowling but criticized the batting performance, noting that they played too many dot balls, which led to a poor chase of the 120-run target.
“We bowled well, but in batting, we lost wickets quickly and had too many dot balls. Our plan was simple: rotate the strike and hit the occasional boundary. However, we failed in this, especially in the first six overs. The pitch was decent, the ball came on nicely, but it was a bit slow with some extra bounce. Now, we must win our last two matches and hope for other results to go in our favor to qualify for the Super 8. We’ll discuss our mistakes and look forward to the next matches,” Babar said after the game.
