Russian scientists unveil mRNA cancer vaccine ready for clinical use

MOSCOW: In a breakthrough announcement, Russian scientists have revealed that an mRNA-based cancer vaccine developed by the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) is now ready for clinical use, according to Sputnik News.

FMBA head Veronika Skvortsova confirmed that the vaccine, named Enteromix, has completed its preclinical trials and demonstrated remarkable success. “The vaccine has shown significant results in reducing tumor size and slowing tumor growth,” she said, adding that it had also proven safe for repeated use.

Unlike traditional treatments, Enteromix will be customized for each patient, tailored to their unique RNA, making it a highly personalized approach to tackling cancer. The first version of the vaccine will target colorectal cancer, one of the most common and challenging forms of the disease.

Researchers are also working on additional versions designed to fight glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain cancer, as well as certain forms of melanoma, a dangerous skin cancer.

Experts say this development could mark a new era in cancer treatment, where mRNA technology — already proven during the COVID-19 pandemic — may help deliver faster, safer, and more effective solutions against some of the world’s deadliest diseases.
