Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed a measles outbreak, resulting in six fatalities and 656 cases of the disease during the last three months.
The Health Department’s statistics indicate that five children have died due to measles in Dera Ismail Khan district, and one in Tank district.
Charsadda has reported the highest number of cases at 105, followed by D I Khan with 102 cases. The report also highlights that Kohat has recorded 46 cases, North Waziristan 26 cases, and Bajaur has reported 37 cases of measles during the outbreak.
The health department officials maintained that spread of measles increases as the weather remains warm. The official said that the measles prevention drive is also being launched in the affected districts.
