Mark Zuckerberg posted pictures from a hospital bed after having surgery on his knee. He injured his ACL (a ligament in the knee) while training in mixed martial arts. In an Instagram post, Zuckerberg mentioned his gratitude for the medical team who took care of him.
“Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it. Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me. I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that’s delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover. Thanks to everyone for the love and support.”, Zukerberg wrote.
This injury happened while he was preparing for a competitive MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fight, which he had been training for since 2020. However, due to his ACL injury, the fight has been postponed. He has been cage-fight training since 2020.
Zuckerberg expressed his eagerness to proceed with the fight once he has fully recovered and thanked his well-wishers for their support.
There were prior discussions about a potential fight between Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla. Zuckerberg was seen training with UFC fighters Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski. Yet, these discussions had slowed down as they negotiated the terms of the fight.
Even though the fight may not happen immediately, Zuckerberg confirmed his commitment to continue his training and participation in MMA. In contrast, Musk indicated his continued willingness to engage in a match with Zuckerberg during a recent appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
Unfortunately, Zuckerberg must prioritize his recovery from the ACL injury. Recovery from this type of injury usually takes around nine months to return to a nearly full level of physical activity following surgery.
