The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) heard the case of the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif, who was shot dead in Kenya. The apex court adjourned the hearing until the first week of July.
During the proceedings, Chief Justice of Pakistan SCP Umar Ata Bandial emphasized that the Investigating Officer (IO) should adhere to the law. He further commented that, “whoever leaked the fact-finding report of Arshad Sharif’s case had damaged the case.”
In a miscellaneous petition filed by the mother of the slain journalist, the Supreme Court was requested to include Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and other confidants of the former prime minister in the murder probe of her son. The petition specifically mentioned Imran Khan, Faisal Vawda, Murad Saeed, Salman Iqbal, and Imran Riaz Khan.
A five-member larger bench, headed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, is scheduled to hear the case on June 13.
