Lahore Hafeez Centre Fire Extinguished Within Minutes After Rescue 1122 Swift Response
Lahore, July 11, 2025 — A major fire incident at Lahore’s Hafeez Centre was successfully brought under control within 20 minutes on Thursday, averting what could have been a significant tragedy at one of the city’s busiest commercial hubs.
According to rescue officials, the blaze was caused by a short circuit that sparked flames inside the multi-storey electronics and mobile market. Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene promptly and managed to douse the fire before it could spread further and cause widespread damage.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire broke out suddenly, creating panic among shopkeepers and customers. However, the rapid response by emergency teams ensured the situation did not escalate. Traders and business owners at Hafeez Centre expressed relief and gratitude towards the Punjab government and Rescue 1122 for acting swiftly to contain the flames.
Speaking to media, shopkeepers said that had the rescue teams not intervened on time, the losses could have run into millions of rupees, devastating hundreds of small businesses operating in the centre.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns about inadequate fire safety measures in commercial markets across Lahore. Authorities have vowed to tighten checks on fire safety compliance and penalize negligence to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Hafeez Centre, one of Lahore’s busiest commercial hubs for electronics, mobile phones, and IT accessories, has witnessed fire incidents in the past as well, raising calls from traders for improved wiring, fire alarms, and emergency preparedness.
