- Jinnah House attack case JIT summons Imran Khan
LAHORE: The former prime minister and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan, has been summoned by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) tasked with probing the attack on Jinnah House that took place on May 9. In an effort to gather crucial information regarding the acts of vandalism and arson that occurred during the incident, the JIT has issued call-up notices to Imran Khan, requesting his presence for questioning.
Sources familiar with the investigation have revealed that the arrested suspects have already provided details concerning their links to Zaman Park. These connections are likely to be explored further during the interrogation of Imran Khan. The JIT, which was established by the Punjab Home Department on May 27, aims to uncover the truth behind the incidents of vandalism and arson at Corps Commander House, more commonly known as Jinnah House, located in Lahore.
In an official notification issued by the department, it was announced that SSP Investigation Iqbal Town Aqeela Niaz Naqvi has been appointed as the convener of the JIT. The team consists of four additional officers from the provincial police force, as specified in the notification. Their collective efforts will focus on gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing any available material that can shed light on the events that unfolded on May 9.
The Jinnah House attack is believed to have been carried out by a group of PTI leaders and workers who forcibly entered the premises to protest against the arrest of Imran Khan. The incident resulted in significant damage to the property and raised concerns regarding the rule of law and security in the area.
Furthermore, Rizwan Zia, the son of Major (retd) Ziaul Hassan, a former inspector general of police in Punjab and Sindh, has also been taken into custody in connection with the Jinnah House attack case. The investigation will likely delve into the extent of his involvement and gather any relevant information that could aid in understanding the motives and actions of those responsible for the attack.
As the JIT summons Imran Khan for questioning, the investigation into the attack on Jinnah House enters a critical phase. The team aims to uncover the truth behind the acts of vandalism and arson, holding those responsible accountable for their actions and ensuring that justice is served. The findings of the investigation will be pivotal in determining the course of legal proceedings and maintaining law and order in the region.
