The Indian cricket team is unlikely to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, according to sources from the Indian cricket board (BCCI). Instead, the BCCI plans to ask the International Cricket Council (ICC) to host matches in Dubai or Sri Lanka.
India has not visited Pakistan since 2008, and they only play against each other in multi-team events. Last year, Pakistan hosted the Asia Cup, but India, played all their matches in Sri Lanka under a “hybrid model” arranged by the organizers. India cited that their government did not permit them to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.
The upcoming Champions Trophy, involving eight nations, is scheduled to take place in Pakistan from February to March next year. This tournament marks Pakistan’s return to hosting a major cricket event since co-hosting the 1996 World Cup with India and Sri Lanka. Specific match dates for the competition, slated from February 19 to March 9, will be announced later.
Before the Champions Trophy, India is scheduled to play six One Day Internationals (ODIs): three against Sri Lanka in an away series and three at home against England in early February.
