India Introduces Country’s First AI Teacher, Iris

In Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, a school has introduced India’s first AI teacher robot named Iris. This robot, created by Maker Labs, uses generative AI and aims to change the way students learn. Iris was inaugurated by Dr. K Rajeev, Director of the Space Physics Laboratory, and quickly became popular among students at KTCT Higher Secondary School.

Iris is a special robot that aims to make learning more personalized for each student. It uses adaptive teaching methods to create engaging lessons. Iris is not just a passive presence; it’s an interactive tool with a voice assistant. It has a dedicated Intel processor and coprocessor for smooth performance and an Android App interface for user control.

Iris can respond to questions, provide explanations, and deliver educational content. It engages students in interactive learning experiences through quizzes and activities. With its 4-wheel chassis, Iris can move around in the classroom and use its hands to manipulate objects and perform demonstrations.

This introduction of Iris is a big step in bringing technology into education. It promises to improve learning outcomes and inspire students in new ways. As schools adapt to the digital age, robots like Iris show how AI can complement traditional teaching methods.

Iris is expected to transform the educational landscape in India, making learning more exciting for both students and teachers. As Iris becomes a part of classrooms, it represents not just a technological advance but a positive change in how we teach and learn.
