Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was arrested on Tuesday by Pakistan Rangers in Islamabad for his alleged involvement in Al-Qadir Trust. Reports suggest that Imran Khan’s lawyer was also badly injured inside the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) during the arrest.
According to sources, Khan was arrested from the courtyard of the judicial complex of the federal capital. Rangers personnel took him into custody and surrounded his vehicle as he reached the complex.
The Al-Qadir Trust, founded by Imran Khan, is accused of collecting funds from abroad and spending them on “anti-state activities.” The government of Pakistan alleges that the Trust is being used to fund terrorism.
The arrest of Khan has caused widespread outrage in Pakistan, with many accusing the government of using the country’s security forces to suppress opposition leaders. Various PTI leaders have vowed to continue their protests against the government and have demanded the immediate release of Imran.
