IHC grants interim bail to Imran Khan in seven cases

  • The PTI Chief arrived in Islamabad to secure bail in seven cases registered against him and others under the charges of vandalism in the judicial complex.

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Monday secured interim bail from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in seven cases registered against him under terror charges.

The PTI Chief reached IHC along with his security after his vehicle was allowed entry into the premises.

The IHC restrained Islamabad police from arresting Imran Khan and granted bail to him till April 7.

Meanwhile, a footage went viral on the social media in which the security officials in plain clothes could be seen arresting Nouman–the photographer of Imran Khan from the area. Usman, the personal security guard of Imran Khan, was also arrested by the police.

Unlike the previous appearance, he would reach the court along with his personal security instead of hundreds of party workers and supporters.

PTI senior vice-president Fawad Chaudhary already left for Islamabad along with the legal team while some other main leaders would accompany Imran Khan during his today’s appearance before the court.

The footages shared by PTI official Twitter account showed that the PTI Chief left for Islamabad in a small convoy unlike his previous appearance along with hundreds of workers.

Islamabad police held a meeting ahead of the PTI chief’s appearance before the court, Mlaik Jameel Zafar will play the role of coordination between the police and the PTI leaders while Amir Kiyani has been given the task to coordinate with the police on behalf of the PTI.

Islamabad police announced on its Twitter account that Section 144 would be effective in the federal capital and only the relevant people would be allowed to enter the court during the appearance of the PTI Chief.

The latest reports suggested that the Islamabad police spokesperson made it clear that the legal action would be taken if the PTI maintained the past practice of gathering party activists.

The Counter Terrorism Department had earlier summoned the PTI Chief Imran Khan and other PTI leaders in a case registered under terrorism charges with Golra police station. The CTD officials summoned Imran Khan and several other PTI leaders for interrogation in the case.

Murad Saeed, Aamer Mehmood Kiani, Amjad Niazi, Raja Khurram Nawaz, Ali Amin Gandapur, Shibli Faraz, Asad Umar, Dr Shahzad Waseem, Farrukh Habib, Omar Ayub Khan, Hammad Azhar, Asad Qaiser, Hassaan Khan Niazi, Jamshed Mughal and Imran Khan’s Chief Staff Officer (CSO) Colonel Retired Asim are among those who have been summoned by the CTC officials in the terrorism case.
