IGP claims to have recovered illegal weapons from Imran Khan’s residence

  • Dr. Usman Anwar says they have search warrants and will execute the same
  • The Punjab police chief says they have arrested 61 people during the operation
  • He also claims that the PTI workers threw petrol bombs on the police personnel and attacked them

Lahore:  Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that they claimed to have recovered weapons from the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan during the operation in Zaman Park.

“We have search warrants and we have to execute it,” said IGP Dr. Usman Anwar while addressing a press conference on Saturday.

The IGP also claimed that there are certain bankers inside the Zaman Park and claimed to have recovered illegal weapons.

The IGP said that the Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) responded today to the resistance of their first day operation.

He said many police officials were injured during the clashes but they showed restraint, vowing that they would not book any innocent person in this matter.

The Punjab police chief also said that the wrong information should not be spread about the police that they carried ‘weapons’ during the operation.

“The video showing weapons are old ones. But yes, we had water cannons and tear gas,” said Dr. Usman Anwar while rejecting the rumours that police took illegal weapons there and recovered the same from there.

To another question that why weapons were not shown to the media when media were there during the operation, the IGP said that there was nothing fake as several videos were there to prove their claims.

He went on to say that 161 people who were wanted in 7ATA were arrested during this operation and more people would be arrested.
