Police have confirmed that they have contacted the family of Humaira Asghar, the actor and model whose decomposed body was found inside her rented apartment in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority. In a heartbreaking twist, Humaira Asghar father refuses to claim her body, telling officials that he had cut off all ties with his daughter long ago.
According to the police, efforts were made to persuade the father to travel to Karachi and take responsibility for her final rites. However, officials say the family has not responded since, and no other close relatives have yet come forward to claim her remains.
The body of the 32-year-old model and actor was discovered dead when police entered her flat in Ittehad Commercial, Phase-VI, on court orders to have the apartment vacated due to unpaid rent. Inside, officers found her body in an advanced stage of decomposition, indicating that she may have died at least two weeks prior.
After the discovery, the body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination. The police surgeon confirmed that the post-mortem has been completed, but the cause of death is still “reserved” pending a detailed report.
With no immediate family willing to claim her, Humaira Asghar’s body now lies in the Chhipa morgue, while investigators are trying to trace any other relatives or friends who might be able to handle the burial arrangements.
Police sources say that Humaira had been living alone for a long time and had struggled to pay her rent in the past year. Her isolation and lack of contact with family have made the process of final rites deeply complicated.
Authorities are appealing to any relatives or acquaintances who knew Humaira to come forward, as local welfare organisations may have to step in if no one claims her body soon.
Humaira’s tragic end highlights the harsh reality faced by some in the entertainment industry who, despite fame and recognition, often struggle in silence and isolation behind closed doors.
