Govt takes strict security measures on Imran Khan’s arrival in Islamabad

The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi and banned all kinds of gatherings and rallies in the city to maintain the law and order situation.

Islamabad: The government authorities on Saturday took strict measures to maintain law and order situation in the federal capital.

The local administration warned the citizens to avoid from unnecessary movements in the city and must carry identification documents along with them.

The authorities also directed the citizens to cooperate with the police during the checking, and made it clear that nobody should carry the weapons during the movements in the city.  

The measures taken at the moment when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is due before the sessions court in Thoshakhana case. The PTI chief is on his way to the court in the federal capital along with hundreds of party workers and supporters.

Over 2500 personnel of Islamabad police were deployed outside the Judicial Complex where Imran Khan to appear before the court.

“Keep your identification documents with you and cooperate with the police,” said the Islamabad police spokesperson in a statement.

On other hand, the Punjab government imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi to maintain law and order situation in the city.

The local authorities issued a notification and said that Section 144 was imposed to maintain law and order situation in the city, and banned rallies and gatherings.

The latest reports suggested that the heavy contingents would also remain alert in Islamabad to deal with any untoward situation and many police personnel holding clubs in their hands were also present at Islamabad toll plaza.
