ISLAMABAD: The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, has revealed that the government will reintroduce the laptop scheme this year as part of the Prime Minister Youth Program. Speaking at a press conference, she announced that 100,000 laptops will be distributed to the youth.

Expressing regret over the discontinuation of the scheme by the previous government, Shaza highlighted the significant impact of laptops provided by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government during the COVID-19 pandemic. These laptops enabled young individuals to continue their education and employment despite the challenging circumstances.

In addition to the laptop scheme, the government has taken steps to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth. Shaza mentioned the introduction of the National Innovation Award, aimed at promoting startup ventures and innovative ideas.

Furthermore, the government places great importance on encouraging healthy activities among the youth. Shaza emphasized that approximately 54,000 children participated in various sports over the past year. Notably, hockey trials were conducted in twenty-five regions, while volleyball trials were held in twenty-eight regions.

Expanding on the sports initiatives, the SAPM announced the commencement of registration for football trials, inviting young individuals from all across Pakistan to showcase their skills.

The re-launch of the laptop scheme demonstrates the government’s commitment to empowering the youth through access to technology. By providing laptops, the government aims to facilitate education and employment opportunities for young individuals, enabling them to overcome challenges and contribute to the nation’s progress.

Additionally, the introduction of the National Innovation Award underscores the government’s support for entrepreneurial endeavors and creative thinking among the youth. By recognizing and rewarding innovative ideas, the government seeks to nurture a vibrant startup ecosystem.

Moreover, the emphasis on promoting healthy activities, such as sports, reflects the government’s recognition of the importance of physical well-being and sportsmanship among the youth. By organizing trials and encouraging participation in various sports, the government aims to develop a generation of physically active and skilled individuals.

With these initiatives under the Prime Minister Youth Program, the government strives to empower the youth of Pakistan, providing them with the necessary tools, opportunities, and platforms to excel in their chosen paths and contribute positively to the nation’s development.
