A German tourist was robbed near the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, leading local authorities to start a detailed investigation.
The incident happened in the northern Cantt area when 27-year-old Berg Florian, who was traveling through Pakistan on a bicycle, was attacked by two unknown assailants.
Florian was camping near the airport and resting when the robbery occurred around 1:30 AM. The robbers approached his tent, demanded cash, and searched through his belongings. When Florian tried to run, one of the attackers grabbed his throat and assaulted him, forcing him to give up his valuables.
The robbers stole a camera worth $2,000, AirPods worth $3,000, an iPhone costing $500, Rs5,000 in cash, and a power bank. The total value of the stolen items is around Rs500,000.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed, and officials are using CCTV footage and other evidence to find the suspects. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran has taken notice of the incident and instructed the police to speed up their efforts to catch the culprits.
This robbery has raised concerns about the safety of tourists in Lahore, a city known for its hospitality. Berg Florian, who has a 30-day visit visa to Pakistan expiring on September 11, expressed his distress over the incident.
