Facebook’s ‘Poke’ Feature Makes a Comeback with Small Updates

Facebook users are starting to use the ‘poke’ feature again. Facebook is making some small changes to bring back the poking experience.

The company said on Tuesday that they’ve improved suggestions for who to poke and made it easier to find the poking page through search. Also, now you can poke a friend when you search for them on Facebook.

Because of these changes, poking has increased a lot in the past month—13 times more! Even though many young users weren’t using poking before, now more than half of pokes come from people aged 18 to 29.

Poking is one of Facebook’s oldest features, dating back to when Facebook started in 2004. But it was hidden away when it became less popular. Facebook never said exactly what poking meant, leaving it up to users to decide. Some people used it to flirt.

Now, Facebook is bringing back poking around its 20th birthday, saying it’s an easy way to say “hi” to a friend.
