Ex-Principal Secy to CM Muhammad Khan Bhatti secures bail

  • An Anti-Corruption Court has granted bail to Bhatti against two surety bonds of Rs500,000 in the corruption case of Rs800m.

Lahore: Muhammad Khan Bhatti, the former principal secretary to Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi, secured bail from a local court on Wednesday.

An Anti-Corruption Court allowed bail to Muhammad Khan Bhatti against two surety bonds of Rs500,000 each. Anti-Corruption Court Judge Ali Raza passed the order after hearing arguments of the counsel of the accused.

During the hearing, the judge asked the prosecution, “he was accused of how much corruption?,”. On it, the prosecutor said that he was involved in corruption of Rs800m .

Advocate Amjad Pervaiz, the counsel for Muhammad Khan Bhatti, argued that there was no record of the money and his client was accused of corruption but it was politically motivated case. He asked the court to set Bhatti free in the case.

On Tuesday, Bhatti secured bail from ACE court in a case related to alleged corruption of Rs250 million. Bhatti was accused of making money through the unfair means.

Earlier, the police arrested Muhammad Khan Bhatti and brought to Rahim Yar Khan on special instructions of ACE Director General Sohail Zafar Chattha who was present in Rahim Yar Khan

The ACE officials had claimed that Bhatti was arrested by police from Quetta and then brought to Rahim Yar Khan on special instructions of Direc­tor General ACE Sohail Zafar Chattha who himself was present in Rahim Yar Khan.
