During the Qualifier match against Multan Sultans, Babar Azam reached some big milestones. He became the first batter to score over 1000 runs in the year 2024. Also, he reached 500 runs in a single edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the third time.
In the Qualifier 1 match at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, Babar Azam, leading Peshawar Zalmi, passed the 500-run mark in PSL season nine. This was his third time achieving this in a single edition of the PSL.
Before this, he scored 554 runs in the 2021 edition and 522 runs in 2023. Only Mohammad Rizwan had done this before, scoring 500 or more runs in three editions of the PSL. Rizwan did it in 2021 with 500 runs, then 546 runs in 2022 and 550 runs in 2023.
Also, Babar Azam’s performance in the 2024 season saw him reaching over 1000 runs during the same match against Multan Sultans in the Qualifiers. He achieved this after playing 21 matches and maintained a good strike-rate of over 135.
