Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has chosen former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur as his party’s candidate for the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Khan made this announcement while speaking to reporters from Adiala jail, where he is currently held in several cases.
With PTI securing 84 seats in the KP Assembly, Khan is in a strong position to form the government. In the National Assembly, PTI-backed candidates won over 90 seats, making them the largest group, followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with 75 seats.
Khan dismissed the idea of forming a coalition government with PML-N, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P). He accused them of being involved in money laundering.
He believes that the recent general elections held on February 8 will bring economic stability to the country. Khan directed his party leaders to hold talks with other parties, excluding PML-N, PPP, and MQM-P.
Khan also mentioned that PTI leader Aliya Hamza received over 100,000 votes despite being in jail.
Regarding the formation of the government, Khan stated that PTI would challenge the election results and approach the Supreme Court.
