After police’s failure, Rangers reach Zaman Park to arrest Imran Khan

LAHORE: After the failure on the part of police, a heavy contingent of Punjab Rangers arrived at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence to arrest him.

At least 33 policemen were wounded as PTI supporters clashed repeatedly with police on Tuesday night while the party chairman remained present at his residence, defying the police attempts to arrest him.

Zaman Park turned into a battlefield when police fired tear gas shells on the PTI workers guarding the party chairman Imran Khan’s residence. The protesters also pushed back the Rangers vehicles during the protest.

The police on Tuesday launched an operation to arrest the ousted prime minister, however, a charged crowd denied the arrest of Imran Khan.

On the other side, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take up a PTI petition challenging the arrest warrants on security grounds today.

In a video message, Imran Khan informed the nation that they were ready again to catch him. He condemned the police attack on the PTI workers and supporters. He said that police fired tear gas shell inside the houses where kids and women were residing.

The PTI chairman said that he was not appearing at the F-8 Katcheri, Islamabad as terrorists had targeted the vicinity twice.

Imran Khan said that he had signed an undertaking and his counsel Ishtiaq A Khan tried presenting the surety to the Islamabad police DIG, but he refused to take it.

He claimed that police wanted to arrest me to complete the “London plan”.

The ousted prime minister said it was decided in the “London plan” to arrest him and put him in jail.

In another video which is circulating on the social media, a family including the children can be seen crying due to the teargas shells fired by the police.
