The Rawat police have filed a case against actor Javed Sheikh and five others for allegedly committing fraud. They are accused of tricking a couple into investing Rs5 million with promises of high returns.
The case was registered following orders from an additional district and sessions judge. The police have called the accused for investigation.
According to the complaint by Amjad Mahmood and his wife Iram Amjad, Javed Sheikh and the others—Jahanzeb Alam, Jamal Khan, Rana Zahid, Azhar Hussain, and Sameer Jadoon—convinced them to invest money, promising a 7% monthly profit. The couple signed an agreement on official stamp papers and gave the money.
However, after several months, they did not receive any returns. When the couple asked for an explanation and their money back, the accused allegedly threatened them, trying to scare them off from pursuing the matter.
Frustrated by the police’s initial refusal to register their complaint, the couple went to court. The court then directed the Rawat police to file the case and investigate the matter.
