Actor Humaira Asghar Ali Found Dead in Karachi Apartment
KARACHI: The entertainment industry was left in shock after the body of Pakistani actor and model Humaira Asghar Ali was found in an apartment in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Tuesday, according to local police.
South DIG Syed Asad Raza confirmed that the 32-year-old’s body was recovered from a flat in Ittehad Commercial, Phase VI, following a court order to vacate the premises.
Discovered After Weeks
According to Gizri police, Humaira Asghar Ali had been dead for nearly two weeks before her body was found.
Officers arrived at the apartment around 3:15 pm and, after repeated knocking went unanswered, broke the lock to enter the premises. Inside, they discovered her body in a highly decomposed state.
The Crime Scene Unit was immediately called in to gather evidence, and her remains were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal proceedings and postmortem.
Cause of Death Not Confirmed
Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed confirmed that a postmortem was conducted Tuesday night but the official cause of death has been reserved pending final test results.
“The body is in a very advanced stage of decomposition,” she said, adding that further analysis will help determine the exact cause of death.
No Signs of Foul Play Yet
Initial findings suggest there was no forced entry or signs of foul play. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mahzoor Ali said that both the iron gate and wooden door of the apartment were locked from inside, as was the balcony door.
“The circumstances so far do not point towards murder,” SSP Ali stated.
“However, the final report will confirm whether it was natural causes, an accident, or something else.”
Financial Struggles and Isolation
Police revealed that Humaira had been living alone in the rented apartment and had stopped paying rent in 2024, which led the landlord to seek a court order for eviction.
Authorities are now working to trace Humaira Asghar Ali’s family and relatives through her cellphone records.
