- Saifullah Niazi and Abrarul Haq also quit PTI
During a press conference, two prominent members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Abrar-ul-Haq and Saif Ullah Niazi, expressed regret over the riots that occurred on May 9 and announced their decision to leave the party.
Abrar-ul-Haq, a renowned singer and songwriter, stated that he no longer believed in PTI’s politics of violence. With tears in his eyes, he expressed his disbelief at the day when he had to announce his departure from the party. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by martyrs for the country and highlighted his efforts in providing education to the children of these martyrs through his institutes. He pledged to continue his work with the Sahara Foundation.
In a separate press conference held in Islamabad, PTI leader Senator Saifullah Niazi also announced his resignation from the party. He strongly condemned the violence that occurred on May 9, particularly the attacks on military installations, including the Corps Commander House in Lahore. Niazi expressed his disillusionment with the party and stated that he saw no purpose in remaining associated with it.
The departure of Abrar-ul-Haq and Saif Ullah Niazi from PTI reflects their deep disappointment and disapproval of the violence that took place on May 9. Their decision to leave the party signifies their stance against the politics of violence and their desire for a more peaceful and constructive approach to governance.
