TikTok removes 12 Million videos from Pakistan in Just 3 months

TikTok, the popular short video platform, has taken down over 12 million videos from Pakistan in just three months due to community guidelines violations, according to its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the fourth quarter of 2022. The report, released on Thursday, revealed that from October to December 2022, a total of 12,628,267 videos from Pakistan were removed, accounting for 14.7% of all videos removed during that period.

In total, TikTok removed 85,680,819 videos worldwide during Q4 2022, which represents approximately 0.6% of the videos uploaded to the platform. Out of these, 46,836,047 videos were removed by automation, while 5,477,549 videos were restored after review.

In Pakistan, the majority of the removed videos were taken down even before they could be viewed, with 89.7% of videos being removed proactively. Furthermore, 95.5% of the removed videos were taken down within one day of being uploaded, showing the platform’s efforts to swiftly enforce its community guidelines. The proactive removal rate for Q4 2022 in Pakistan was an impressive 98.8%, as stated in the report.

TikTok has been taking community guidelines violations seriously, and these numbers highlight the platform’s efforts to ensure a safe and responsible environment for its users. The company has been actively working to remove content that violates its guidelines, including content that is abusive, harmful, or violates the platform’s policies on hate speech, violence, nudity, and other prohibited activities.

The high number of videos removed from Pakistan is a clear indication that there is a need for stricter adherence to community guidelines in the country. It also emphasizes the responsibility of TikTok users to ensure that their content complies with the platform’s guidelines and does not spread misinformation, hate speech, or any other form of harmful content.

TikTok has implemented various measures to improve content moderation, including the use of automation and artificial intelligence to detect and remove violating content. However, the company also recognizes the importance of human review in the content moderation process. TikTok has a team of content moderators who review reported content and enforce the platform’s community guidelines.

The report also highlighted that TikTok has been working closely with local law enforcement agencies, government bodies, and other stakeholders to address community guidelines violations effectively. The platform has been conducting regular training sessions for its content moderators to ensure that they are well-equipped to identify and remove violating content accurately.

TikTok has also been actively encouraging its users to report any content that violates its guidelines through its in-app reporting tools. The company encourages users to report content that they believe is inappropriate, harmful, or violates community guidelines. This collaborative effort between TikTok and its users is vital in ensuring a safe and responsible user experience on the platform.

It’s important to note that while TikTok is making efforts to enforce its community guidelines and create a safe environment for users, the responsibility also lies with the users themselves. Users should be mindful of the content they upload, ensuring that it complies with the platform’s guidelines and does not violate any laws or regulations.
