The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has faced criticism after one of its Twitter accounts shared an image of actor Armeena Khan with her baby daughter, calling them “youthias” following her criticism of Maryam Nawaz.
On April 9th, Armeena shared an undated video on Twitter of a woman who pretended to take a selfie with the PML-N leader, before asking the politician to “say my family are thieves”. The video was posted by a PTI supporter based in the UK.
Armeena praised the UK’s freedom of speech, but the PML-N official account responded by sharing a photo of Armeena with her baby, using the derogatory term “youthia” commonly used to insult PTI supporters.
The tweet was widely criticised, with many condemning the use of a child’s picture in a political altercation and calling for its deletion, including actor Osman Khalid Butt and author Shahbaz Taseer.
