Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi will not appear before NAB today: Sources

  • The latest reports say that the decision has been taken after deliberations on Thoshakhana case and NAB jurisdiction to take it up.
  • Fawad Chaudhary demands formation of commission to investigate it.

Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi would not appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Thoshakhana case, the latest reports said on Tuesday.

The decision was made after the legal team’s deliberations on the subject matter.

Both Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were due before the anti-corruption watchdog but they are not appearing before it.

The apparent reason is that Imran turned up before the Lahore High Court for hearing of a case.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary had said earlier that Thoshakhana did not come under the jurisidction of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) , demanding the authorities concerned to form a commission on it.

According to the details, the NAB team visited Zaman Park to hand over the summons to Imran Khan’s family.   The PTI supporters were also present there on the occasion.

Some other reports emerged that that they also visited Bani Gala residence to serve the notice and that they also summoned Imran Khan in the same case.

Earlier, the NAB officials had summoned Bushra Bibi and other PTI leaders in Thoshakhana case on March 9 but they did not turn up before it.

Besides it, Imran Khan has also been facing the Thoshakhana reference moved by Election Commission of Pakistan before a local court in Islamabad.

On Saturday, the sessions judge had allowed Imran Khan to leave back to his home after marking attendance in his car but ensure his personal appearance on the next date of hearing on March 30 as his indictment is due for last couple of hearings.

The ECP in its reference alleged that  Imran had not shared details of the gifts he retained from the Toshaskhana (during his time as the prime minister). The ECP ruled that  the former premier had indeed made “false statements and incorrect declarations” regarding the gifts.

Cabinet Division control Thoshakhana which stores the gifts given to the rulers by the foreign dignitaries.

The ECP moved the reference after disqualifying Imran Khan in the case.
