PDM calls PTI militants, demands action against them

The ruling alliance while citing judicial system treatment of Imran Khan says the ‘scale is not in the balance’.

Islamabad:   Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), the ruling alliance, unanimously  demanded strict action against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over alleged attack on the Federal Judicial Complex and police personnel during appearance of party’s chairman Imran KHan before a court in Thoshakhana case.

In a six-hour long huddle, the heads of all 13 political parties with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the chair took the decision against PTI and its chairman.

The alliance unanimously condemned the attacks on the security personnel who were deployed at the judicial complex for security purposes, and said that such attacks were unacceptable.

The PDM leaders also expressed solidarity with the state institutions and officers, vowing to taking strict action against miscreants and law breakers. They also declared that attacks on the law enforcers were tantamount to committing enmity with the state which could not be tolerated.

“It is before the nation now that the PTI is not a political party,” said the PDM in its declaration,  calling the PTI as a group of trained militants.

They claimed to have evidences and proofs in this regard and decided to take action against it.  The coalition partners also condemned smear campaign against the state institutions including Pakistan Army and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir what they believed was launched by the PTI on the social media.

Talking about bails granted earlier to PTI Chief Imran Khan in nine different cases, the ruling alliance said that the treatment of Khan and his supporters indicated that the scale was not in the balance.

“Two different standards of justice are unacceptable in the country,” they held.

The huddle took place after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N senior vice-president Maryam Nawaz held a meeting and discussed the party’s planning to deal with PTI Chief Imran Khan in Lahore.

On Saturday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan left for Islamabad to appear before the sessions court in Thoshakhana case.  As he left Lahore home the police launched operation in Zaman Park and removed the barriers and camps established outside his residence. The police also broke down the main gate of the house and entered into it.

On the other hand, the PTI Chief and his convoy also faced huge hurddles and barriers in their way to the court. The footages showed that the PTI supporters resorted to protest after blockage of roads and harsh welcome of their leaders in Islamabad.
