Gel Rodriguez, a passenger traveling with carry-on luggage, found herself in a predicament when she was informed by airline officials that her bags exceeded the weight limit of seven kilograms. Rather than paying for the extra weight, Gel Rodriguez decided to wear the excess clothing that was causing her luggage to weigh more than it should. This involved donning several layers of long-sleeved shirts, coats, trousers, and shirts in an attempt to reduce the weight of her carry-on bags.
In a Facebook post shared in 2019, Gel Rodriguez recounted the experience and explained how she managed to avoid paying the additional baggage fee. She was only two kilograms over the weight limit due to her luggage, which weighed nine kilograms.
By wearing the excess clothing, she was able to reduce the weight of her bags by 2.5 kilograms, which was more than she needed to remove to meet the weight limit.
