Pakistani climbers rescued from Mount Annapurna

Pakistani climbers Naila Kiani and Shehroze Kashif were rescued from Mount Annapurna after being stranded due to bad weather.

The two climbers had successfully reached the peak, which stands at 8,091 metres, on Monday before encountering difficulties during their descent. The Alpine Club of Pakistan confirmed that a helicopter was dispatched to rescue them from the mountain and they have been taken safely to Annapurna Base Camp.

Taking to Twitter, Kashif shared the post with a caption, “Alhumdulilah I’m back.”

Naila Kiani became the first woman from Pakistan to summit Annapurna, while Shehroze Kashif is aiming to become the youngest climber to summit all 14 peaks over 8,000 metres. Meanwhile, efforts are still ongoing to search and rescue Indian climbers Anurag Maloo and Baljeet Kaur, who went missing earlier.

Shehroze Kashif has become the world’s youngest mountaineer to reach the summit of 11 peaks over 8,000 meters (26,247 feet) after successfully scaling Annapurna, which is the tenth tallest mountain on earth.

Annapurna is located in the Annapurna mountain range of Gandaki Province, Nepal, and is renowned for its challenging and dangerous ascent due to its elevation of 8,091 meters above sea level.

Kashif made the announcement of his successful climb on his social media pages, stating that he reached the summit of Mount Annapurna at 6:30 a.m. PST, making him the youngest person ever to climb 11 8000m peaks.
