Shaukat Khanum Medical Board prescribes complete rest for Imran Khan

LAHORE: Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital Medical Board advised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to take complete rest, the sources privy to the development said on Wednesday.

The medical board said that if rest is not taken, swelling in Imran Khan’s affected leg could increase, which could increase the risk of infection. The medical board advised Imran Khan to avoid excessive movement and pressure on the affected leg, saying that if there was an infection due to swelling, surgery would have to be performed again.

Reacting to the advice of the medial board, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz, commented on the medical advice given to Imran Khan by doctors.

She tweeted, “The pressure on the leg does not come from participating in the rally? Or does it just come from appearing in court?,”.

The reports involving the rest advice emerged a day after Imran Khan felt pain again after his appearance before the Lahore High Court (LHC) in a plea against 121 cases registered against him in different parts of the country.

Imran Khan felt pain in his leg and the sources said that the rush and crowed in the premises of the Lahore High Court put him into trouble.

“His leg got affected during the rush while appearing before the court,” a PTI leader said, adding that pressure on his leg caused him trouble.

The LHC had earlier directed the PTI chief to join investigation in all 121 cases registered against him, observing that he could not skip the investigation.

Imran Khan had challenged registration of cases against him under different charges.
