ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a directive to federal and provincial authorities to remain on high alert in anticipation of the rain forecasted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in most parts of the country.
The PMD’s daily weather report indicates that an atmospheric disturbance is affecting the central and upper regions of the country, with thunderstorms and high winds expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan on Tuesday.
The prime minister has requested the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the provincial authorities to keep a close watch on the weather situation across the country. He urged the provincial governments and departments to work with the federal departments to ensure that all the requirements are met to guarantee the safety of the public.
Shehbaz Sharif also urged the NHA and other relevant departments to monitor inter-provincial highways, and for the necessary precautions to be taken to ensure traffic flow and public convenience.
The government’s top priority is to protect human lives and property, and all civil service departments have been instructed to stay alert and work diligently. In the affected areas and on various highways, people should be kept informed and on high alert. PM Shehbaz urge the masses to adopt the safety measures during severe weather and to cooperate with the concerned institutions. As the weather conditions continue to evolve, it is imperative that the authorities stay vigilant and take appropriate action to safeguard the public’s safety.
