Pakistan’s Dilemma for T20 Series Against New Zealand “Youth or Experience”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had earlier announced their plan to give young cricketers a chance in the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand, following a similar approach adopted in the recent series against Afghanistan. However, after suffering a series defeat against Afghanistan, the board is now reconsidering their decision.

Sources suggest that the senior players were supposed to be rested for the T20 series against New Zealand and included in the ODI series. However, there is now an opinion in the PCB that Pakistan should also field young players, given that the New Zealand team also consists of young players. The idea is to give the young cricketers of Pakistan an opportunity to build their confidence and perform well in home conditions.

A decision is expected to be taken this week regarding whether or not to give a chance to the young players. The T20 series between Pakistan and New Zealand will comprise of five matches and is scheduled to begin from April 14 in Lahore. Following the T20 matches, five ODI matches will also be played.

It is worth mentioning that several key players such as Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf were rested during the recent series against Afghanistan. The PCB will have to make a decision soon regarding the selection of players for the upcoming series against New Zealand.
