On Pakistan Day: PM, President and other officials raise Nation’s spirit

The observance of Pakistan Day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940. This was when the All-India Muslim League requested a distinct nation for the Muslim community residing in the British Indian Empire.

The day commenced with a 31-gun salute in the national capital and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.

Furthermore, a ceremony to change the guards was conducted at the mausoleums of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal in Karachi and Lahore, correspondingly.

After the Fajr prayers, special prayers were held in mosques for the advancement and prosperity of the nation.

Nonetheless, the Pakistan Day Military Parade, arranged by the Armed Forces at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, which was planned to occur today, has been rescheduled for Saturday (March 25) owing to unfavourable weather conditions.

The prime minister, president, and other officials conveyed their felicitations and well-wishes to the nation.

It is great to hear that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has conveyed his well-wishes to the citizens of the country on the occasion. His tweet, in which he wished for the country to “grow, prosper and thrive in peace and harmony consistent with the vision of our founding fathers,” reflects his positive attitude towards the development and progress of the nation.

Message of  PM Shehbaz to the nation:

Prime Minister Shehbaz extended his congratulations to the nation on the occasion, stating that today serves as a reminder that irrespective of the obstacles, human resolve has the potential to achieve the impossible.

The premier tweeted, “Today, the nation pays tribute to the political acumen, prudence, and perseverance of Pakistan’s founding fathers who fought unwaveringly for a distinct nation.”

He added, “Prosperous nations hold themselves accountable by scrutinizing their achievements against their ideals. This is their method of self-reflection and accountability.” The prime minister then conveyed his resolute belief in the country’s ability to overcome challenges and triumph.

The prime minister further added, “On this 23rd of March, let us revive the spirit of serving the nation.”

He continued by saying that this day also urges us to renew our commitments and transports us back to 1940 when the Muslims of the sub-continent endorsed a resolution for the formation of a separate motherland they could identify as their own, under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Message of President Dr Arif Alvi to the nation:

In his address to the nation, President Dr. Arif Alvi remembered that the country had formed state institutions, fortified its defense, obtained nuclear deterrence, suppressed terrorism, conquered the Covid-19 pandemic, and shown the spirit of sacrifice and cooperation in the wake of natural disasters.

Despite these achievements, President Dr. Arif Alvi acknowledged that there is still a long road ahead to establish the rule of law, reinforce democracy, diminish social disparities, empower women, ensure the rights of persons with disabilities, eliminate terrorism and extremism, guarantee political and economic stability, and safeguard the human rights of all citizens.

He also mentioned the persecution of minorities, especially Muslims in India, the rising violence against Muslims, and the brutalities being committed by Indian security forces in the Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which he said proved that the Muslim leadership of that time made a wise decision.
