Nawaz Sharif says govt holding talks with PTI only for nation’s sake

LAHORE: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif emphasized that talks with the PTI are being held for the benefit of the country and its citizens. However, he pointed out that there is no one to guarantee those who have caused damage to the country for over three and a half years.

In a meeting of the PML-N’s senior leaders, various important issues, including political, economic, legal, and party matters, were discussed. Nawaz Sharif presided over the meeting through a video link.

During the meeting, he highlighted that some individuals cannot accept the progress of the country. Nawaz further stated that negotiations with the PTI are being held for the greater good, while there is a war of vested interests to malign the country and its institutions. He underlined that those who caused damage to the country will not receive any guarantee, and the people will not forgive them.

Nawaz called for prompt action to be taken to solve people’s problems and address inflation. In addition, he directed that policies should be developed to provide relief to the people before the elections, and urged all political parties to play their part in advancing the country’s progress.

The former PM claimed that the PML-N had been striving for the country’s development, but the previous PTI government had undone all the progress in three and a half years.

PM Shehbaz Sharif also stated that a relief package would be introduced to mitigate people’s difficulties. The meeting decided to consult with allied parties to finalise the election date and other issues.
