Nawaz Sharif leaves for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah

LONDON: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday departed from London to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. Earlier, his daughter and the PML-N chief organizer, Maryam Nawaz, had arrived in Jeddah to perform Umrah, and both will be guests of the Saudi royal family.

Maryam Nawaz was warmly welcomed by party workers and her brother Hasan Nawaz upon her arrival in Jeddah, and she is accompanied by a group of 25 people, including her husband, Capt (retd) Safdar, her children, their spouses, Dr Adnan, and Rana Imran Manj.

According to the media reports, Nawaz Sharif is expected to reach Saudi Arabia in the next day or two from London. Maryam Nawaz will stay in Jeddah until the arrival of her father Nawaz Sharif and then both the party leaders will travel to Mecca to perform Umrah.

Maryam departed for Jeddah from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport via a Saudi Airlines flight. Nawaz and Maryam are also scheduled to meet the Saudi royal family and spend the last 10 days of Ramadan in Mecca and Medina.

Taking to Twitter, the PML-N chief organizer shared the post before leaving for the Umrah.
