- The court has sought reply from the PTI leader after the federal government’s lawyer submitted reply in the case.
Lahore: The Lahore High Court on Friday put off further hearing till April 7 the hearing of the plea moved by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhary challenging notices of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) over tweet about investigation against Maryam Nawaz over Thoshakhana gifts.
As the hearing commenced, a law officer representing the federal government submitted reply before the court.
At this, the court put off further hearing till April 7, and directed the counsel for Fawad Chaudhary to submit rejoinder.
The legal battle started after Fawad Chaudhary took to Twitter and demanded the authorities concerned for action against Maryam Nawaz soon as the details about Thoshakhana gifts surfaced. Fawad Chaudhary accused Maryam of taking out a watch from Thoshakhana and giving it to another citizen. He asked the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to take action against Maryam.
PML-N senior vice-president Maryam Nawaz re-tweeted Fawad Chaudhary’s tweet and tagged FIA for action against him.
Interestingly, the FIA issued notices to Fawad Chaudhary the next day Maryam Nawaz re-tweeted it and asked the agency for action.
It may be mentioned here that Maryam Nawaz now a days routinely commented on the tweet of PTI Chief Imran Khan and responded him there. However, the routine showed that the PTI Chief did not engaged directly with any tweet.
