Imran Khan’s arrest will push Pakistan into further crisis: Zalmay Khalilzad

Former American special envoy for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad has said that arresting PTI Chairman Imran Khan would further aggravate the current crisis in Pakistan.

After the failure on the part of police, a heavy contingent of Punjab Rangers arrived at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence to arrest him in Toshakhan case.

At least 33 policemen were wounded as PTI supporters clashed repeatedly with police on Tuesday night while the party chairman remained present at his residence, defying the police attempts to arrest him.

Following the call of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, party workers and supports took to streets across the country including Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Mianwali.

Khalilzad, in a Tweet, Pakistan is presently facing multiple issues including economic, political and security. He called upon the authorities to take steps to avert crises in the country. He said that a date should be decided for the national elections in early June to bring back stability in the South Asian nation.
