Chris Pratt and Charlie Day are set to lend their voices for the much-anticipated Super Mario Bros. Movie. The movie has seemingly gained the two actors some “cool” points with their kids, who are excited about their dads’ involvement in bringing the iconic Mario brothers to the big screen.
During a press day for the forthcoming animated movie, Pratt and Day opened up about what their children thought of their roles. Pratt shared that his 10-year-old son Jack, whom he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris, was excited about the upcoming movie, but specifically because he’s “a Luigi fan.”
Pratt shared, “Like he plays Smash Brothers and he’s like, ‘Dad, I own at Smash, I own everybody at Smash. And I’m Luigi. I think Luigi is a better player.’ So, he’s always kind of leaning against the characters that I play!”
Meanwhile, Day and his wife, actress Mary Elizabeth Ellis, share one son, 11-year-old Russell. Day revealed that “this is a big deal in the Day household. This is no joke this, this gig. We’re cool again. We’re back into cool dads status.”
For both actors, the Super Mario Bros. Movie holds a lot of nostalgia, and it is a childhood dream come true to play the iconic plumbers-turned-kingdom savers. Pratt shared that he spent hundreds of hours, if not thousands, playing Super Mario Bros. and Nintendo as a kid, and the movie taps into that nostalgic vein in everyone.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is based on the iconic video game franchise, is slated to be released in theatres on April 5th, 2023. Fans of the franchise have been eagerly awaiting this release, and the involvement of popular actors like Pratt and Day has only added to the anticipation.
With the movie’s release just around the corner, fans of the game and the actors alike are eagerly counting down the days until they can experience the adventure of the Super Mario Bros. on the big screen.
