Colorado, June 2, 2023 – President Joe Biden took a stumble on Thursday during the commencement ceremony at the Air Force Academy in Colorado. Despite the fall, the President appeared unhurt and even made light of the incident later on. Air Force personnel promptly assisted him back up, and he did not seem to require further help.
The Trip and the Aftermath
After delivering a commencement address to the graduates of the military academy, President Biden had just finished shaking hands with a cadet and was making his way back to his seat when he fell. The fall was a result of tripping over an obstacle on the stage, which was later identified as a small black sandbag.
Air Force personnel quickly came to the President’s aid and helped him back up. Fortunately, he did not display any signs of injury and did not require any additional assistance. While rising to his feet, Biden even jokingly pointed out the object that had caused his stumble, drawing attention to the small black sandbag on the stage.
White House Communications Director’s Response
Shortly after the incident, White House Communications Director Ben LaBolt took to Twitter to assure the public that President Biden was unharmed. In his tweet, LaBolt explained that there had been a sandbag on stage while the President was shaking hands. The sandbag, inadvertently left in place, had become an unexpected obstacle.
Another Mishap at the White House
Returning to the White House later in the day aboard Air Force One and Marine One, President Biden encountered another stroke of bad luck. As he exited the helicopter, he accidentally bumped his head on the door. However, once again, he showed no signs of injury and continued to walk across the South Lawn without any apparent discomfort.
Ever the joker, President Biden quipped to reporters about his double misfortune, stating, “I got sandbagged.” Despite these minor incidents, the President’s health and physical fitness have been assessed positively by his official doctor, and he maintains a regular exercise routine.

President Biden: A Resilient Leader
This isn’t the first time President Biden has faced physical challenges during his presidency. In November 2020, shortly after winning the election against incumbent Donald Trump, he fractured his foot while playing with a pet dog. Despite these occasional setbacks, Biden remains determined and resilient, currently seeking a second term in the upcoming 2024 election.
As President Biden continues his tenure, the American people can rest assured that their leader remains committed to his responsibilities and maintains a sense of humor even in the face of unexpected mishaps.
