Anubhav Sinha devoted a significant amount of effort to the production of Ra One, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, which regrettably did not achieve success at the box-office. As he participates in promotional interviews for Bheed, he also ponders on the disappointment of Ra One.
He expressed admiration for Shah Rukh Khan, stating, “One can learn from him how to love, how to show respect to women, and how to respect one another… Because of that man, I have learned to hold doors open for others. If you visit his house, it is unlikely that he will not see you off, open your car door, and remain standing as you depart.”
Anubhav Sinha is a well-known Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter. He has directed several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films such as ‘Mulk’, ‘Article 15’, and ‘Thappad’.
Reflecting on the disappointment of Ra One, he shared, “It has been 12 years since the release of Ra.One. People began labelling it as a failure soon after its release, but I did not. Until one day, when I saw Shah Rukh himself referring to it as a flop on television. My heart was shattered. I couldn’t believe that Shah Rukh had said that.”
He went on to say, “Following that incident, I even began referring to the film as a flop, until others informed me that it had actually performed decently. It earned Rs 135 crore in India at that time. It may not have met our expectations, but it still did reasonably well. The fact that we are still discussing the film today indicates that it was not a complete failure. Shah Rukh had given his everything to the project, so he must have been hurt, which is probably why he made that statement. I was also hurt, but I was young at that time.”
